Stomp has been at the Orpheum for years but time has not deminished its excitement. I went with my son Joseph, who is fourteen, on Saturday afternoon and he was not anticipating anything good. He said, " I saw this on TV once, in school when I was in fifth grade and it kinda sucked." and I said, " what? "Well, the rest is history; the kid laughed, the kid clapped, because Stomp performers literally teach the audience how to clap, as they invite you to participate in their fun, and the Orpheum is small, as are many off broadway theaters and this only adds to the interactive energy of the show. Stomp was suppose to disappear last year in October after its start in February of 94' but that did'nt happen and I'm not surprised. If you have never seen Stomp or if you have'nt seen it in years it's a great way to spend and hour and forty five minutes. Buy the tickets at the box office for the best price and seat; the tickets should be under $75.00 bucks, and any seat is a good seat in a theater the size of the Orpheum. It's amazing how two Englishmen Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas could open a show on second ave just south of the corner of St. Marks and have it turn into one of Manhattans east village bench marks.
