Built in the 1920's, the Hotel Elysee is named for one of the finest French Restaurants of that era. Once a playground for the rich and eccentric, it has been home to movie stars, artists, writers and intellectuals. Luxurious yet intimate, it is an oasis of elegance and peace close to the vibrant heart of New York City.
On the ground floor the hotel houses the
Monkey Bar, a legendary New York night spot, and one of the city's most popular and stylish restaurants now featuring the cuisine of Patricia Yeo. Its inventive New American dishes are also available to hotel guests through room service. With a recent makeover in early 2007, this legendary bar has been frequented by such luminaries as Tallulah Bankhead, Joe DiMaggio, Tennessee Williams, Marlon Brando and Ava Gardner. The overall ambiance taps into the location's unique history and features executive chef Julian Claus Ehlers array of American and Continental cuisine. Monkey Bar and Grill was voted the No. 1 bar in New York by Gourmet Magazine's latest readers' poll.
