Editorial Review
The Holiday Inn Downtown is a tourist class hotel with a great lower Manhattan location bordering Chinatown, Little Italy, Nolita, SoHo and Tribeca. It doesn't get any more eclectic in terms of access to unique Manhattan neighborhoods! The area is home to millionaire SoHo loft owners and first generation Chinese immigrants. Mix in some of the fourth generation Italian families and the hipster population in Nolita, and you have a true 21st century melting pot. Within a five minute walk you will find an exciting mélange of sidewalk cafes, trendy boutiques, unique restaurants and hip nightspots.
As for the hotel itself, the rooms are standard issue and a bit drab, though generally clean and well maintained. They also have nice touches such as an in-room coffeemaker, hair dryer and CD player. What they lack in charm they more than make up for in price as they are certainly one of Manhattan's better hotel bargains.
The 227 room, 14 story Holiday Inn Downtown boasts a marble lobby, rosewood furnishing, paneled elevators and Asian accents, highlighting the property's distinctive cross cultural flavor. The structure's preserved historic features include over sized, arched windows and a classic exterior. While the hotel features an in-house restaurant and lounge, you will almost certainly want to venture out to one of the dozens of more interesting restaurants and bars within a five minute walk. Given all the exciting opportunities so close to the Holiday Inn, you will be at the heart of it all when you stay here.
