EDITORIAL REVIEW
Initially constructed in 1985 as a residential apartment building, the 31-floor Kimberly Hotel has an ornate marble lobby decorated with antique light fixtures and Persian rugs. The hotel is close to Midtown businesses and within 6–9 blocks of many sights; its richly furnished suites draw a mix of families and business travelers as well as diplomats and performers.
The hotel has 186 guestrooms, all of which include a separate bedroom and living room, as well as a full kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, stove, toaster, dishes, and honor bar. Suites are 650 to 675 square feet and are decorated in French provincial or English countryside style, with richly toned velvet couches and chairs. All rooms have two TVs with cable channels, high-speed Internet access (fee), fax, printer, CD player, three dual-line phones, video games, and pay movies. In addition, they offer step-out balconies with views north or south. Bathrooms are marble. Closets contain a laptop-sized electronic safe and umbrella. Olica, the Kimberly's modern French restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its nightclub, Vue, offers cocktails, dinner, and late-night dancing.
