Editorial Review
The Knitting Factory was a locus of experimental, envelope-pushing music in the downtown NYC music scene, which showcased styles ranging from rock to jazz to neo-classical to electronica. Harangued by neighbors from the onset after moving from Houston Street to TriBeCa, The Knitting Factory announced it would move to the space of the old Luna Lounge in Williamsburg to escape the suburban multimillionaire-types who don't appreciate hearing noise from nightclubs. The final show in TriBeCa was on New Year's Eve 2008 into the wee hours of 2009; until the Brooklyn venue opens you can catch some co-branded shows at Webster Hall as well as at the old 74 Leonard Street space.
