The plan to put a national lighthouse museum here at the site of the original US Lighthouse Museum is a brilliant one. As is typical of the best ideas to bring major institutions to Staten Island, it has slowed down in the fundraising stage. You can head there today and see the historic administration building, workshops, and other facilitites, but none are open to the public as of yet. Got a few extra million laying around looking for a bright idea, visit http://www.lighthousemuseum.org/ and find out where to send your check.
