The Museum of Chinese in America (MoCA) is the only professionally-staffed museum in the United States dedicated to preserving Chinese American history. Founded in 1980 as the New York Chinatown History Project, the name eventually changed to Chinatown History Museum in 1991, and in 1995 to its present name. The Museum now continues to carry on its mission to reclaim, preserve, and broaden understanding about the diverse history of Chinese people in the Americas.
Nestled in the heart of America's largest Chinatown, the Museum of Chinese in America (MoCA) is located on the second floor of an historic, century-old school building and continues to carry on the tradtion as a place of education and enlightenment. MoCA provides educational and community programs as well as research facilities on the fields of Chinese American and Asian American studies.
