really interesting museum that most people don't know about
By pheney who lives in manhattan

i was really surprised to discover this place. it just looks like a regular house but it's really old and has all the stuff from the people who lived there 100 years ago still in it. i've never seen anything like this before. the staff really knows all about the house and the family and what's inside and they answer all your questions without giving any attitude. it looks like they have some really cool special events, too. more people should know about this place!

Beautiful historic house!
By DayleVS who lives in Upper West Side

I love this house museum! It's special because it still has all the original family's furniture, objects, and clothing. It's a gorgeous Washington Square type of house that you can see in tact as the merchant class lived 150 years ago. I've been to many events -- wine tastings, ghost tours, concerts, lectures, garden tea parties -- they are all very creative and educational. It's also a great value for New Yorkers and tourists alike.
