Aside from the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Opera, Dicapo Opera Theatre is the only professional non-profit company producing a year-round, annual season of opera and other musical theater in New York. Located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, it was co-founded in 1981 by Michael Capasso and Diane Martindale. The theatre was completely remodeled in the summer of 1995 and is a fully-equipped, 204 seat air-conditioned facility with orchestra pit, spacious lobby areas, in-house scenery and costume shops, offices and rehearsal spaces.
