Paul Taylor Dance Company

Few artists of our time have had the profound impact on their art form that Paul Taylor has had on dance. Fifty years after he made his first avant garde works, he is revered as the world's greatest choreographer, with a collection of 124 dances performed by his own celebrated Company and Taylor 2 as well as renowned dance companies here and abroad.

Paul Taylor first presented his choreography with five other dancers and himself on May 30, 1954 in Manhattan. That modest performance marked the beginning of a half-century of unrivaled creativity. In the decades to come, Mr. Taylor became a cultural icon -- indeed, a living legend and one of history's most celebrated artists. His two dance companies (Taylor 2 was created in 1993) travel the globe many times over, bringing his ever-burgeoning repertoire to theaters and venues of every size and description in cultural capitals, on college campuses and in rural communities -- and often to places modern dance has never been before.

While continuing to garner international acclaim, the Paul Taylor Dance Company performs more than half of each touring season outside of New York in cities throughout the United States. San Francisco and Durham host annual engagements during which audiences have the opportunity to see Mr. Taylor's newest works.
